Agentic AI
Your agent strategy is an integration strategy
Most enterprise AI agents fail for the same reason most integrations fail. The fix is the same too.

An agent that cannot read the order history, check the contract and update the ticket is a chatbot. The value of an enterprise agent comes almost entirely from the systems it can act through.
That makes agentic AI an integration problem first and a model problem second.
Why pilots stall
Pilots usually start with a model, a prompt and a spreadsheet export. They look good in a demo. Then the team asks for production access to the ERP and discovers there is no API, the data owner has not been asked, and nobody has defined what the agent may change.
What works instead
- Expose capabilities, not databases. Give agents well-defined tools such as “create credit note under AED 5,000” rather than raw table access.
- Reuse your integration contracts. If a capability already has a versioned API, the agent should call that, with the same authentication and logging as any other consumer.
- Separate read, draft and act. Most first agents should only read and draft. Acting directly is earned with evaluation evidence.
- Log every tool call. An auditable trail of what the agent saw and did is what lets a risk committee say yes.
Where to start
Pick a process with high volume, clear rules and an existing system of record. Map the tools the agent needs, check which already exist as APIs, and build the missing ones properly. The second agent will need most of them too.
